Marine and Exotic Animal Park.  A 30-minute drive north to Benidorm will take you to Mundomar offering an exciting day out.  Fun-packed shows for all the family, with dolphin and seal displays, sea lions, penguins and much more.

Aquapark.  Next to Mundomar is the water park Aqualandia.  This offers an unforgettable day out for the whole family.  Both parks are open May to October and entrance to each park can be bought singularly or a special joint daily ticket for entrance to both parks is available.

Adventure park.  Tera Mitica is also on the outskirts of Benidorm, this is a state of the art theme park for all the family. It is a good full day out, with rides ranging from tranquil for the youngsters to breath taking for the more adventurous and courageous. The park is divided into areas representing historic countries that border the Mediterranean Sea, Egypt, Greece, Rome and Iberia, thousands of years of history are turned into hundreds of opportunities for fun. The park is open all year round and offers reduced rates for 2-day tickets.

Diving.  There are many dive centers within half-hour's drive offering full scuba facilities, trips and tuition for the experienced and novice diver alike.  Diving in the area is varied and dramatic with plentiful marine life.  Explore the underwater world of the Mediterranean’s warm clear waters and see moray eels, octopus, sea bream, anchovies, barracuda, rays, conger and scorpion fish. Cycling.  Many pros use this area for training and recuperation.  The roads are suitable for all levels of riders and off-road riders are also well catered for, with several dedicated routes in the locality. 

Golf.  You have the choice of four 18-hole golf courses in the local area, ranging from 'encouraging' for the high handicapper to the 'Seve Ballasteros designed' course of San Juan.

Walks.  Foothills of the nearby mountains and national parks offer many varied walks in the nearby area.

Beaches. There are many safe, clean, sandy beaches within a short driving distance. These range from the busy cosmopolitan main beach in Alicante City to the tourist beaches to the north, and the tranquil remote sands to the south. 

Fishing. Stretches of rocky coastline around the port of Alicante cater well for sea fishing.  Plus there are many boat trips offered for those that wish to venture into the blue waters of the Mediterannean. 

Day trips.  There are many boat trips available to near-by islands and remote coastal beaches bookable from Alicante, Benedorm, Denia, Santa Pola.

Away from the coast there are various inland train, tram and coach trips including The Lemon Express. This is the oldest tourist train in the whole of Spain dating from the 1920's. Leaving from Benidorm heading north the one hour twenty minute outward journey hugs the coastline and offers spectacular views accompanied by a light hearted guide.  The arrival destination is one of the few remaining authentic traditional guitar factories.  The return journey sees a champagne party with music and a great party atmosphere.

The Balerics. Overnight night trips to the baleric islands including Ibiza are available from Denia.
 
Night Life. The local town of San Vicente offers a good selection of bars and resturaunts, tenpin bowling, fitness centers, cinema etc.

Alicante offers all night entertainment with international resturants and bars and night clubs.

Benedorm offers a full range of night life to cater for every taste.

Theatre / Ballet. Alicante has a theatre that has various ballet and operas.

Shopping.  Alicante offers a wide range of department stores, shoe shops, boutiques, specialist shops and outlet centers.  The flea market on Sunday mornings in the Town Hall Square's arcade is a find for any stamp or antique collector.  There is a wealth of local markets in Alicante and the surrounding villages that will give you a taste of real Spanish shopping.  In addition more traditional handicrafts, pottery, leather objects and costume jewelry can be found as well.
